The first area of ​​use was industry. In this field, it is known that light was obtained linearly and evenly thanks to fluorescent luminaires. The fact that fluorescent luminaires are not very long causes interruptions in the line and consequent light loss in the areas where they are used. Therefore, in the 2000s, with the influence of technology, LED luminaires began to be used for lighting. Thus, light is transmitted along the walls or ceilings of the space in a straight line.

Types of Linear Lighting

Since the 2000s, linear lighting, which uses LED luminaires, has developed into various types. These are seen as determined according to the application method.

Surface-mounted linear applications are installed on ceilings. This requires direct mounting. These lights, which do not require renovation, provide a modern look to spaces.

Recessed linear applications are done by flush mounting. This application requires a plasterboard or suspended ceiling. Since the fixtures used do not protrude, it provides architectural harmony.

Suspended linear applications are done by hanging them from the ceiling. Hangers and steel cables are used to hang the fixture. It is preferred for spaces with high ceilings.

Rail linear applications consist of LED fixtures installed in spaces with a rail system. It is generally used in shops and provides light in a sliding manner in shop windows.

Rail, surface-mounted, recessed, and suspended linear lighting have a wide range of applications. These applications are especially used for spaces with modern designs. Thus, high-quality lighting is achieved.

Places where linear lighting is used include homes, offices, kitchens, shops, schools, commercial centers, restaurants, industrial facilities, and other living spaces. In these areas, the appropriate type of linear lighting is used according to the ceiling structure and the design of the space.
